What is the Limelight Facial?
The LimeLight Facial is a new, non-invasive approach to treating benign pigmented and vascular lesions using Cutera’s LimeLight. The procedure offers the advantage of improving skin tone and surface imperfections associated with aging and photodamage. It rejuvenates skin and lessens the appearance of surface imperfections. It can help redness and other discoloration of the skin and is especially helpful on light brown spots caused by photodamage and aging that were previously hard to treat.
By treating diffuse redness or brown spots with the therapeutic heat of the Limelight laser, their appearance can be reduced and improved. The procedure is not painful or invasive and is an out-patient procedure.

What areas can be treated?
The LimeLight Facial is ideal for any part of your face, neck and décolleté with skin redness, telangiectasia (tiny veins) or brown spots. Light (low contrast) brown spots, which were previously difficult to resolve, respond very well to treatment.
What does the treatment do?
By selecting Program A, B or C, your practitioner can customize your LimeLight Facial to your skin type and selectively treat the brown and/or red pigmented areas on your skin. It’s the heating of the pigmented brown or red cells that causes the therapeutic effect.
The treatment is not painful; most patients experience a mild pinching sensation when the pulse of light is delivered. We sometimes use a cooling gel on your face to lessen the sensation, but it is not always needed. No anesthesia or pain medication is required. Most treatments take less than an hour but can be longer depending on the area being treated.
The Cutera Limelight laser system allows us customize the treatment personally to you. We choose a treatment that is appropriate for your skin type and to selectively treat any brown or red spots you might have. We generally recommend one to three treatments to see the full effects of the facial, but you may need more depending on the severity of skin discoloration and your desired results.
We'll discuss the plan for your course of treatment in your first appointment. Since everyone's skin type and problems are different, you will find out more of what to expect individually when you visit us for a consultation.
After the Limelight Facial Treatment
After the treatment, the recovery time needed is minimal. You might experience a slight repening or swelling of the treated areas, which usually only lasts a few hours to a day. Dark spots will temporarily darken, but make-up can be used to cover any redness or spots after the facial. After a week to three weeks, any dark spots may flake off and will fade. Similarly, redness pigmentation will lessen. You will notice a less mottled complexion and more even skin tone!
For many patients with discolored skin on their face and neck, the improved skin tone offered by the Limelight Facial boosts confidence and happiness. If you are interested in this rejuvenating treatment, contact us for a consultation or more information!
Will the spots and redness reappear over time?
New brown spots, telangiectasia and diffuse redness may appear with new sun damage; however they too can be treated. Remember to always apply broad-spectrum sunscreen when outdoors to minimize sun damage and the appearance of new spots and diffuse redness. Rosacea is chronic and cannot be “cured” with any laser or light source, however its appearance can be improved.
